When tragedy struck Allentown and directly affected our members, the newly formed Teamster Local 773 Women’s Committee decided to do something to assist those in need.

They quickly organized a hoagie sale in hopes of raising funds for the Allentown Families Fund.

Nine hundred hoagies later, the proceeds totaled $2135 including direct donations from our members. The Teamsters Local 773 Women’s Committee thanks all of our members who made this fund raiser a huge success.

On Sunday, March 6, 2011, 33 Teamsters from nine companies participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl For Kids Sake.

The bowlers raised of $2800 for the annual event and helped push Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley over their goal of $165,000.

To date, over $175,000 has been raised to assist Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley in their mission to provide mentoring services to at risk children in the Lehigh Valley.

Columbus First Student Workers Join Teamsters Local 773

(Washington, DC) – School bus workers with First Student in Allentown, Pa., have voted to become members of Teamsters Local 773 in Allentown. There are 204 drivers and monitors in the bargaining unit.

“I wanted to become a Teamster so my coworkers and I will be treated fairly and treated with respect,” said Hector Rivera, a driver since 2006. “We also deserve fair wages for the hard work we do everyday taking children to and from school.”

“The main concern with the drivers and monitors was fairness,” said Dennis Hower, Vice President of Local 773 and also a business agent. “The workers want an end to the favoritism that has been going on.”
